Zombie Candy
Annie Ogden Mystery 2
By Frederick Brooke
ZOMBIE CANDY IS DELICIOUSLY FUNNY!
The story takes the reader from suburban Chicago to a quaint village in Italy. This second book in the Annie Ogden Mystery series, is a deliciously funny and refreshing tale of a man's obsession with sex and zombies.
After serving in the Iraq war, Annie returns home and decides to become a private investigator. We meet Annie's best friend and college roommate, Candace. Candace's philandering husband, Larry, is obsessed with zombies and other women. Annie takes more than a professional interest in her first investigation, thinking of creative ways to seek revenge for her best friend. Annie, along with her new partner, Salvatore, decide to take the PI work a step further and throw Larry a few curves. Candace takes their idea to the extreme and incorporates the PI team in a colorful and elaborate scheme to teach Larry a lesson that he'll never forget.
Although this book is part of a series, the author does a wonderful job of introducing Annie a second time. Annie's adventures always leave me feeling energized and happy. So, if you missed reading "Doing Max Vinyl", indulge in the delightful pleasure of falling in love with Annie and her zany friends in "Zombie Candy."

AN ANNIE OGDEN MYSTERY
By Frederick Lee Brooke
Annie Ogden Targets Max Vinyl
Annie Ogden feels at loose ends after three military tours in Iraq. Her sister's mishap with a GPS and her brother-in-law's missing cell phone collection feed Annie's compulsive desire to follow a moving target. Annie's target is Max Vinyl.
Max Vinyl is an ordinary sleaze who aspires to be a respected businessman in a successful relationship. The day Max sells eighty percent of his shady recycling business to Korean businessmen is the best and worst day of his life. With three million dollars, Max can help his aging uncle pay for his aunt's medical care. He can take the plunge into a more serious relationship with his current girlfriend. Max's love life turns sour when his environmentalist girlfriend blackmails him. Max's business explodes in his face when his employees lose a GPS and computer data belonging to a prestigious accounting firm.
Max runs his business fast and hard like his seven expensive sports cars. His crew consists of an eclectic group of ex-cons who get the job done, in a roundabout way. The fast quips and capers of ex-cons, Ike and Tranny, are hilarious. Entertaining characters and slapstick comedy make this Annie Ogden mystery a fun read. Watch Max's life spiral downward as his business and his women get out of hand.
